A LYNN factory worker who failed to stop after crashing his new motorbike received a hefty fine at Lynn Magistrates' Court.
Emanuel Casaleiro (30), of 70 Post Mill, Fairstead, was fined a total of £415 for driving off after the crash, which happened on Lynn's Hardwick Road on April 5, and for driving without insurance or a licence.
Rob Warner, prosecuting last Monday,
said Casaleiro, originally from Portugal, was driving his new Yamaha motorcycle home from Warwickshire when he veered into the path of a car and fell off.
He checked the other driver was all right, but drove off without leaving his details. Mr Warner said police were called and "effectively had to pursue the defendant" who was eventually stopped in Chase Avenue.
The court heard Casaleiro was very remorseful and had been tearful during his police interviews.
George Sorrell, for Casaleiro, said his client worked in a factory and had a four-year-old child. He knew he was in the wrong to be driving without insurance and had panicked after the crash.
For failing to stop, Casaleiro was fined £200 and given six penalty points. For driving without insurance he received a further £140 fine and his licence was endorsed.
His licence was also endorsed for driving without a licence and he was ordered to pay £60 costs and a £15 victims' surcharge.
