Bike insurance will be worked out using new technology in the future, according to an industry body.
According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the sector will begin to use technology such as the black box system recently trialled by officials in Staffordshire.
This involves monitoring the movements of drivers in order to assess their prowess on the road. Malcom Tarling, speaking on behalf of the ABI, has commented that the method will be beneficial to those who behave responsibly on the roads.
However, bikers who do not adhere to highways rules could find their bike insurance policies increase greatly in price.
"Insurers will certainly use advances in technology and the goal that they are always trying to achieve is to ensure that the price that they charge for insurance reflects the actual risk," said the official.
